Force to Bottom of page

I have a text box as the last item on the report. It's just above the Page Footer. I want this textbox to always display at the bottom of the last page of the report. I can't seem to find a way to force this.

All help is appreciated.

Is there no way to do this? Is that why I've had no response?

|||

You could move the text box into the page footer and use a visibility expression:

=iif(Globals!PageNumber = Globals!TotalPages, false, true)

|||

Thanks for the response.

That is a good thought but the textbox contains a Paramater to the report which could be a multi line string. The textbox will grow with the string but the Footer doesn't seem to dynamically grow. And the size properties on the footer do not allow expressions.

Is there a way to force the footer to grow and shrink with the size of the objects in it?

Footer without header on final page

Hello. I have googled for answers to this problem, but while finding
posts that seemed similar to my problem no solution has been found.
I have a report that contains a table header and footer. I want the
header (the column headers) to appear on each page, and the footer (a
totals row) to appear once at the end of the report.
So I have the table properties RepeatFooterOnNewPage set to false and
RepeatHeaderOnNewPage set to true. For most cases this works as I want
it.
Sometimes the table has a number of rows such that the footer goes on
a page by itself, without the header. Any help fixing this problem
would be much appreciated. Either getting the header to go on the
final page with the footer, or perhaps fiddling the page breaking so
this situation doesn't arise.
Thanks very much,
GregOops, forgot to say that I've only seen it happen in the PDF export.

Footer with dynamic values

In my report I need footer with fixed lenght anchored to a bottom. The
problem is what I need some dynamic fields (report values) in footer. How
can I manage this?I found answer by myself. :)

Footer with a dynamic amount of Textboxes with dynamic Textbox Properties

Hi!

I have to create a report with an footer that has different layouts. This depends on a parameter. So for example the parameter is "1" there must be 4 Textboxes with a special location, font, width, height, text and so on. If the parameter is "2" there must be only 2 Textboxes. If Parameter is "3" ... and so on

Does there exists a solution for my problem?

Thanks in advance!Hi! Here I am again...

The following ideas are failed:

- Creating a subreport in footer (tried to trick the UI -> using XML Code->failed with preview)
- Delete the footer and put a table on the bottom of the body with a subbreport that includes the different textboxes (this is not a really footer)
- using a picture with a picture format of a pdf file (doesnt work) or a vector picture (unfortunately bitmaps or jpegs are rendered in bad quality in pdf)

My idea would be the following:
- putting the max amount of the needed textboxes in the footer and create for each Textproperty a switch statement that depends on the parameter
for example: TextBox property width: =Switch(Paramter="1", "10cm", Parameter="2","2cm")
and this for each each TextBox property.

This is a circumstantial way in my opinion.|||has nobody an idea for my problem? Or can someone suggest me another forum?

Footer rows to skip

OK. We know there is Header rows to skip options and it works great.

I've got the file that has a "footer". Here is an example:

.
PSC
filename=table1
records=0000000000525
ldbname=db1
timestamp=2006/02/07-16:25:00
numformat=44,46
dateformat=mdy-1910
map=NO-MAP
cpstream=ISO8859-1
.
0000260611

It's ALWAYS last 12 rows.

Is there a way to split at this point and put the 12 rows in a different location? The task is twofold - I don't need these control rows in my data and I need value of "records" to verify loaded number of rows.

UPDATED: After some testing I found out that the Flat File source does not see that footer at all. This is good and bad - I do want to load this metedat into some other tables.

Dima.

I too have the same type of flat files.

If u have solved this issue. Do help me please.

|||You can use another Data Flow to read the file a second time, with each row as a single column. Use a conditional split to identify the header/footer rows that you're interested in and derived columns (or script if necessary) to do any parsing before sending them to a destination. The downside here is that you have to read the file twice.

Alternatively, you can tackle the whole job in a single Data Flow with a script component that accepts the file rows as a single column, parses them in code, outputs the detail rows in discrete columns, and does whatever necessary for the header and footer. This is slightly more complicated from a code standpoint and the parsing logic could be a lot more tedious than letting the Flat File Source component do it.
|||Or perhaps read the file one time to get the number of rows in a variable and add a rownumber column to each row. Then in a second data flow use a conditional split to redirect the footer rows. This should work if you have a fixed number of rows in the footer.|||Has anyone figured out how to look at the footer rows? The footer row contains the number of rows in the file, and I'd like to use this as a sanity check. Thanks in advance.

Footer Report Version number

How do I display the SQL embedded major version number of my rdl report.

Thanks,

Ken

Do you mean that you want to put a 'version' number (that you type in) into the footer or the SQL Server version number in the footer?

|||SQL server has a major and minor imbedded version number.|||

why not create a dataset with the following

Code Snippet

select version = @.@.version

|||

Thats SQL servers version. SQL report manager keeps an embedded version number for the rdl files. When I redeploy the report the version is stamped somewhere.

|||

I don't think you can get at this.

|||As a small slightly offtopic addendum to this it would be nice if there was a more robust versioning system for reports built into SSRS.

Footer problems

Hi all,
I've got a couple of problems with some reports that I'm developing:
1) I'm trying to print a Group Footer at the bottom of the page in a fixed
position, regardless of how many detail records there are. Is there a way
to do this?
2) I have another report that is supposed to give page totals on each page,
as well as a grand total at the end of the report. Since I can't put any
fields in the Page Footer, and I can't use the Global Page variables in the
Body, how can I get these totals to appear correctly?
Thank you very much in advance,

I'll tackle number 2 first;
In a table footer you can use the 'RunningValue' function instead of
'Sum' and make sure the footer is set to 'Repeat on each page'.
Number 1 is not currently acheivable.
Rectangles are the key to semi-absolute positioning, but unless your
report is alway a one page report (i.e. an invoice) you won't be able
to do it.
Merry Christmas
Chris|||HI
I am also trying to do the same. But I cannot achieve it. Which scope do I
have to give' Can you please give me an example?

I actually have found out how to do this stuff, although it was pretty
nasty. MS needs to come up with something better than it has thus far.
First off, the RunningValue function did not work for me in the table
footer. What I ended up doing was adding another Detail row, and added an
expression to the Hidden property of that row that hides it unless it goes
at the bottom of the page. I calculated the number of detail rows that fit
on each page, then used the Mod function of the RowNumber as such:
RowNumber(Nothing) Mod x = 0, where x is the number of rows that fit in a
page. I then added a TextBox to that new Detail row and included the
RunningValue function in it; that worked!
As for positioning on the page, well, that is similar. I have two stored
procedures, one of which calculates the total number of detail rows that
will show up on the report, then subtracts that from the (number of pages *
max rows per page). I then created a dummy table with no controls in the
detail row (no header or footer row either), and set the row source to that
extra row calculation sproc. This worked, but I hate it.
FYI, I tried Chris' solution of using rectangles, but I couldn't get the
Height property to accept an expression (according to BOL, it shouldn't
anyway), so I have no idea how he meant I could use rectangles.

Soan, you asked about scope, generally I use 'Nothing' which instructs
RS to work it out for you! For basic reports you could use the dataset
name (in double quotes!).
You can set a group footer to repeat on each page (see 'Edit Group
Properties' and check 'Repeat Footer on each page')
Use the RunningValue function of the form
RunningValue(Fields!Amount.Value, Sum, Nothing), this should do it.
Note! This is not a page total but a running total!
Jim, your method is fine as long as you don't start grouping or have
conditionally hidden lines, then tracking where you are on the page
becomes a nightmare.
The rectangle solution only really works if can get prints on one page.
You place a rectangle exactly where you want it on the page and how big
you want, then place a data region inside it and make the data region
display what you want, i.e. the totals.
As Jim said, Microsoft haven't really provided an adequate way of
achieving this.
Regards
Chris

Footer pointing to ReportItems

I know that you cannot use a field in a footer, but you can use ReportItems
in a footer. My problem is that the field I am referencing only appears on
the first page of my report, so the item only appears on the first page of my
report. Does anyone know of anyway around this issue? I need something to
appear on the bottom of every page of the report.Hi,
I think you might find the solution by exploring page breaks.
Just a thought.
